Michaelswood was created by Ray and Betty Ferrie as a memorial to their son. It is a haven of trees, shrubs, flowers, water features and play areas for children. This includes a Pirate Ship and Bird Hide. It’s a great place for adults too with many winding paths and seating areas among the trees.
I was most fortunate to be the winner of the local Photo Walk, with this picture of young Magnus, and was extremely surprised and pleased as there were many splendid entries in the contest.
This photo was featured on the front cover of the local Westside News Magazine and was again surprised and very grateful for the interest shown. The Westside News is a colourful quarterly magazine covering news from the west side of Shetland in word and photographs. It is also available as a PDF file and can be viewed by request from firstname.lastname@example.org.
I have added some more photos that I took during the photo walk. You can be assured that Michaelswood is a place well worth visiting for both children and adults.
