Same Calm Day Different Views

How often does this stillness occur in Shetland? Not often enough so it’s good to take advantage of it especially on camera. The first image was taken from Uradale looking out towards Trondra and beyond. And later that day the pale sunset was from Port Arthur, Scalloway and shows the small island called the Green Holm.

Beauty And The Beach

This beautiful docile horse stood facing me with the low bright sun shining through it’s windblown mane. Onwards to Minn Beach and a bottle filling with sand as the wind was whipping up little sand storms. I waited for the wind to cease a little before taking a shot.

Bluebell Bokeh

I have to say, if you haven’t guessed already, that two of my favourite things in life are sunsets and bluebells. Great when you get to photograph them both on the same day. The rain had fallen on these bluebells and when the sun came out the sparkles created a lovely bokeh.

Sunset Scenes

Always a variety of scenic subjects in the sunset at Hamnavoe, Burra. A beautiful evening for the youngsters out rowing in the yoal.

Bluebells and Daisies

Cloud Drama

An unusual evening at Hamnavoe where the sun was shining from the west and storm clouds were looming in the east. They didn’t come to anything although I was prepared for running to the car at a moments notice to avoid a drenching.

As I was focusing on the setting sun a man appeared as if on cue and brought the photo to life.

The Strong And The Fragile

I love seeing newly ploughed fields. This old Massey Ferguson has served its master well at East Burrafirth. On to Hamnavoe in the evening sunset and we find one of a host of surviving dandelion clocks.
