Wet Leaf Bokeh

We know melting snow can be messy but sometimes, when the sun shines, we can see beauty in other things.

Wet Leaf

Happiness is…..

Went into Lerwick to take photos of flowers in the Lerwick Jubilee Flower Park. Up sprang this rarity called Liam in front of me smiling in the sunshine. Liam is a superb gardener and has just been nominated by the Tutors at SRUC Elmwood College to receive the best SVQ level 3 parks, gardens and green spaces student award! A fine achievement for one so young.

I’m really not good at portraits but how can you go wrong with a subject like this. Flowers? What flowers?

Colour In The Lerwick Flower Park

The Lerwick Jubilee Flower Park has peace from the rain and wind this year to flower to its hearts content. I love the park at any time of the year, even winter, when decaying and dried plants seem to have an artistry of their own.

Field Of Gold

On our way into Lerwick on 30th June, Victoria and myself saw this bright yellow field of marsh marigolds up a hill. We had to do a bit of climbing to get to it but it was worth it. Looking over Lerwick we saw the Celebrity Infinity cruise ship leaving. She is just one of the beautiful cruise ships to visit us annually.

On to Bigton and St. Ninian’s Isle where I caught my daughter taking a photo of a wheatear.

The Lows And Highs Of Photography

These images were taken at Burra. The first was from the safe ground level of Minn Beach and the second necessitated lying flat as I was so near the cliff edge.

Bluebell Bokeh

I have to say, if you haven’t guessed already, that two of my favourite things in life are sunsets and bluebells. Great when you get to photograph them both on the same day. The rain had fallen on these bluebells and when the sun came out the sparkles created a lovely bokeh.

Sunset Scenes

Always a variety of scenic subjects in the sunset at Hamnavoe, Burra. A beautiful evening for the youngsters out rowing in the yoal.

The Strong And The Fragile

I love seeing newly ploughed fields. This old Massey Ferguson has served its master well at East Burrafirth. On to Hamnavoe in the evening sunset and we find one of a host of surviving dandelion clocks.
