Solarie Clips

We were so blessed in Shetland, and it’s something I won’t forget, to have the rain clouds clear enough to let the sun through during the full Solar Eclipse. When the eclipse was complete the clouds came back but it didn’t matter as we were on a high from seeing and photographing the event.  There is always a gull that photobombs in Shetland even on this occasion.

Beauty And The Beach

This beautiful docile horse stood facing me with the low bright sun shining through it’s windblown mane. Onwards to Minn Beach and a bottle filling with sand as the wind was whipping up little sand storms. I waited for the wind to cease a little before taking a shot.

Sunset Scenes

Always a variety of scenic subjects in the sunset at Hamnavoe, Burra. A beautiful evening for the youngsters out rowing in the yoal.

The Strong And The Fragile

I love seeing newly ploughed fields. This old Massey Ferguson has served its master well at East Burrafirth. On to Hamnavoe in the evening sunset and we find one of a host of surviving dandelion clocks.

“The miracles of nature do not seem miracles because they are so common. If no one had ever seen a flower, even a dandelion would be the most startling event in the world.” ~ Anonymous.

Another Hamnavoe Sunset Evening

Every sunset is different. Who could tire of them? This time I purposely took it out of focus for an alternative result. Quite like the abstract look it achieved.

Aurora Borealis

My first attempt at photographing the Aurora Borealis. Known in Shetland as the Mirrie Dancers. Taken from my back yard on 28 2 14.

Another Golden Evening In Shetland

Sunset images from New Street, Scalloway looking over to Port Arthur and beyond. The tide was quite low so some of the lower part of the pier was more visible than usual. I feel it adds more character to the image.

Boat Leaving Blacksness Pier

I heard this boat approaching from behind me but I just waited until it had passed in case I missed the best shot of it by having to re-focus.
